Step-by-Step Pressing Guide
Nail your press every time with these easy, reliable steps from Treasure Coast Printz.
1. Skip the Pre-Press
With TCP DTF Transfers, there’s no need to pre-press or pre-iron your garment—our transfers are designed to apply clean without it. Pre-pressing is optional and only needed if you personally prefer it for your process.
2. Place Your Design with Precision
Align your transfer exactly where you want it—make sure it lays flat and smooth before pressing. Pressing over seams (like side seams or 6-panel hats) is totally fine. For tricky placements or curved surfaces, we recommend using heat-resistant tape to keep the design locked in—especially when working with hats or a household iron. You’ll get a feel for when it’s needed as you gain experience.
3. Press & Peel (After a Quick Pause)
315°F · 15 sec · Medium–High Pressure Test one piece first. Use parchment or a TCP cover to avoid scorching.
Wait a few secs before peeling. Design not sticking? Re-press with more pressure +15°F. Scorching? Lower pressure or drop temp 10–15°F.
Dial in your press. TCP transfers are built to handle it.
4. Final Press = Pro Results + Longer Lasting Wear
Unlike many DTF brands, we recommend a second press—and for good reason. After peeling the film, cover the design with parchment paper and press again for 15 seconds. This locks in the design, boosts durability, improves softness, and reduces shine for a more professional finish.
Wash & Care Tips:
Wash inside out, cold water
Hang dry or tumble dry on low
Delicate settings = longer life (Standard settings work, but gentle care makes it last even longer.)
Troubleshooting Tips
Even with solid technique, things don’t always go as planned. Here’s how to spot and solve the most common DTF hiccups:
Transfer Not Sticking?
Reapply with more pressure and +15°F heat
Still not sticking? Increase temp in 15°F increments until it adheres
